Braunton History Walk – Spring Walking Festival

Join us on an informative guided walk of Braunton History as part of our Spring Walking Festival.

Braunton Countryside Centre
25th May

What to expect:

This tour gives you the chance to learn about the fascinating history of the countryside surrounding Braunton, the historic agriculture of Braunton Great Field, the once-bustling port at Velator Quay, and how the  railways arrival in the area influenced Braunton.

Starting at Braunton Countryside Centre in the village centre, this walk will take roughly two hours.

The route consists relatively flat terrain and some rural footpaths so is suitable for able bodied persons. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sensible walking shoes.

About the Guide:

North Devon Coast AONB Project Officer Dave Edgcombe has worked in Countryside Management in and around North Devon for the past 40 years. He once had offices in Braunton Countryside Centre and in 2008 oversaw an ambition interpretation project called Explore Braunton, which led to the development of a popular website with information about Braunton and the surrounding area which this walk will follow.
