Braunton and the surrounding area offers many opportunities to get out on your bike. The whole area is surrounded by quiet, rural lanes which are relatively safe for family cycling and a great way to explore Braunton.
For completely safe, family-friendly cycling, the Tarka Trail offers 30 miles of off-road cycling on flat tarmac which was once the route of an old railway line. There are some sections where the trail is broken requiring you to cross over roads, so please take care.
Braunton is surrounded by hills and open countryside offering an extensive network of bridleways which are perfect for the more adventurous off-road cyclist. One popular route is to start in Braunton and follow Route 27 of the National Cycle Network through to Woolacombe where you can then pick up another section of the Tarka Trail.
