About the guide
Eirene worked on wood rotting fungi at Exeter University for her PhD and is North Devon bone and bred. She is Vice Chair of North Devon Coast AONB Partnership and a councillor on Georgeham Parish Council. Eirene has studied the world of plants and fungi throughout her career, completing extensive research into ecology and environmental factors.
Getting there
Chapel Wood is 2 miles north of Braunton and signposted from Spreacombe. From Barnstaple take the A361 Ilfracombe road. Go through Braunton and Knowle. About 1.25 miles north of Knowle, take the turning to the left marked to Spreacombe. After 0.75 mile, at the fork, keep to the left over the bridge. The reserve is accessed along this road. Parking is limited so car sharing from the countryside centre can be arranged.
